چکیده

This paper describes solutions for distributed software project management, focusing on tools and techniques for effective project communication. Microsoft’s Internet collaboration tools are used for software development and to monitor and control project progress. Student programmers and supervisors at different physical locations collaborated to produce add-on tools for the Microsoft Office Server Extensions. The modes and mechanisms of a conceptual framework for Internet-based collaboration are presented. This framework is instantiated using Microsoft Office 2000, NetMeeting, MSN Messenger and the Workgroup Web Site. Experience with the collaboration framework is evaluated, and enhancements targeted to support software development are proposed.

Applications of the Web-based collaborative visualization in distributed product development

This paper illustrates applications of the Web-based collaborative visualization (WCV) in distributed product development. Three software prototypes were developed using the WCV technologies. The first one enables the end users to configure individual parts of 3D assembly in a regular browser, and thus provides an effective tool to collect the customer’s voices in e-commerce. The second system ...

Distributed Component Engineering using a Decentralised, Internet-based Environment

Engineering component-based software systems in a distributed fashion is challenging. Particular issues to address include software process and work co-ordination, sharing and collaborative editing of component specifications, designs and implementations, and appropriate sharing of reusable components. This paper describes our approach to tool support for distributed component engineering. Seve...

Observations from Multidisciplinary, Internet-based Collaboration on a Practical Design Project

Industry and academia are increasingly demonstrating the benefits of Internet based collaborative work for product design and development. For example, collaborating via the Internet for design teams at Boeing, and efforts to understand and support the design process at Stanford University, showed promising results [1, 2]. The US government’s National Advanced Manufacturing Testbed (NAMT) proje...
